St. Louis Child Custody Lawyers
Missouri Visitation Attorney
Children are often the most important people in our lives. We bring them into the world with hopes and dreams of providing a nurturing two-parent household. But sometimes it doesn't work out that way. Sometimes two parents must divorce and child custody decisions need to be made.
We are Growe Eisen Karlen, family law attorneys in St. Louis, Missouri. Many of our attorneys are also parents. We are a law firm that demonstrates its concern for children on a regular basis. Contact our Missouri visitation lawyers to set up an appointment to discuss your concerns.
In the Best Interests of the Children
The words "best interests of the children" are included in state family law guidelines throughout our country, including in Missouri. That is what our St. Louis child custody attorneys strive for — even as we strive to obtain the child custody and visitation agreement that our client desires in a divorce.
While it is generally best for children to settle custody disputes outside of court, that cannot always be accomplished. Whether a settlement is possible or a trial is required, we are prepared to do what is best for your children. In the event the decision is made by the court, then it will make its determination based on eight factors:
- The parent's custody wishes and visitation or parenting plan
- The needs of the child for a "frequent, continuing and meaningful relationship" with both parents
- The interaction of the parents and their ability to actively perform their parenting functions
- The interaction of the child with other family members such as siblings
- The child's adjustment to home, school and community
- The mental and physical health of all involved family members
- The intention of either parent to relocate to another home
- The child's wishes regarding a primary custodian
